Stereoscopic 3d Video in Vegas Pro

Making 3d video using Vegas Pro and Canon Rebel 2ti / 550

Here is an sample videos I threw together in Vegas Pro 10.
I shot the video with (two) Canon Rebel t2i and just

"guesstimated" the stereo focus so they are quite
primitive. The files are .wmv stereoscopic Half scale side by side.

ex1both.wmv sxs half (67 mb)
This wmv file plays in stereo in PowerDVD 11 or the
Nvidia 3D Vision Player. Not the best footage and hyper stereo
rather than proper stereo. The cameras were not as close together
as eyes are.

I Also have some raw .mov files from each camera
if you want to try combing them yourself.

Each are 385 mb .mov

Quick how to guide for 3d in Vegas Pro

1. Open Vegas under files/properties in the video folder go down to
stereoscopic 3D mode and select the mode you want
 side by side half/full
anaglyph
top bottom
then hit apply. You can do this step after step 2 if you forget if you forget.

2. Drag the first track ( left eye ) to track one. Then drag the second track
to track two ( right eye ).

3. Saving before and/or after this step might save you headaches.
Line them up so they are in sync by looking at the sound waves to make them match.
Zoom in if you have to. I use Plural eyes a sound matching plugin to match the tracks.

4. Pair as stereoscopic 3d sub clip - Click on the first track video inside the track not
the front part. Hold down control and click on the second track again not the mixer stuff
the video track itself then right click and from the options select Pair as stereoscopic
3D sub clip. You should have one track of video and still two tracks of audio.

5. Mute the extra audio track if you wish (or pan both for stereo).

6. Adjust the stereo - Click on the track fx button for your video track.
Select Sony Stereoscopic 3D adjust as the effect and then click ok. Adjust the 3d picture
using these controls. I us anaglyph to mix but render in side by side
(switch to anaglyph to view then switch back to render). To see all the options
be sure to click on the black arrows next to corrections. I have not used these enough to have
much opinion of them yet so I will update this after using the adjustments more.
I have used them to fix clips with some horizontal and vertical offset problems.

7. Render time - Go to file and select render. For now I am using .wmv to render to
but you may choose whatever you want. I upload side by side to you tube and they
make available anaglyph versions from that.

8. After rendering view clip in player of your choice.

Other stuff

I am working on a stereoscopic clip maker. Not done yet but here is a program that
just displays a rotating earth. It works on Nvidia 3d or without 3d on other systems.

It will only work at 1920x 1080 right now so if you can't do that resolution  it
won't work for you.
Use arrows to move around and esc to exit.
